Museums
Perth has a selection of interesting and educational museums. The West Australian Museum is located in Francis Street , and is only a short distance from the Perth railway station, and other public transport. The museum displays a large range of exhibits including dinosaurs, meteorites, Australian Aboriginal artefacts, Perth's oldest gaol, and a unique view into Western Australia's past.
The Maritime Museum in Fremantle was granted the Centre of Excellence award for its outstanding work in maritime archaeology. The museum has a fantastic display about the Dutch ship Batavia shipwrecked off the West Australian coast in 1629. The display includes a reconstructed section of the Batavia, and has to be seen to be believed. Have a look at the Fremantle Maritime Museum.
Other museums can be found in and around Perth including the aviation museum, the museum of childhood, and the rail transport museum. For details of the times and admission fees contact the museums directly.
