Basketball

1982 saw the Perth enter a team into the National Basketball League (NBL) for the first time. The NBL itself had only been running for 3 years before Perth's arrival so the competition was fresh and new. Their first season saw a fairly average performance, finishing 10th on the ladder. Since that time, a change of venue and a change of name proved successful and vaulted the Perth Wildcats up the ladder, taking them to victory four times in the last nine years. The National Basketball League is constantly changing with new players entering the league and a few team name changes or new teams being entered so be sure to stay up to date with new information.

Let's not forget the Perth Breakers either, who entered the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in 1988, and have since won the WNBL Trophy once, in 1992. The team has since changed it's name in the women's basketball competition, they will now be called the Perth Lynx. The Womens National Basketball League site contains information about players, season fixtures and is updated often to give fans information as soon as it becomes available.
